USB drives, packaging, and a little about the process

This post is first of all to show my new packaging but second what that packaging really showed me about my business…and well, about me. I wanted to blog my packaging before I started sending it out, but I ran out of my old supplies so I was forced to use it beforehand. Anyways, so for a bit now I had been feeling like I needed to switch to USB drives for weddings. They are just more durable and CD’s are starting to become a bit outdated with the new computers (I know… already!!!). So I spent some time looking around Pinterest and around the internet trying to find some packaging that was “me” and that made financial sense for me too. I don’t want to LOSE money because I have to pay so much for my packaging. That just doesn’t make sense! So I looked EVERYWHERE and couldn’t find anything that really worked for my brand. Then it hit me. I can’t find anything because there aren’t any businesses exactly like mine or people exactly like me. Even if I found something close to what I would have wanted it..there are things I would have changed here or there. So instead I just starting finding bits and pieces that I liked and put them all together.

I think when you first start something…you start out trying to be as good as this person or like that business. Yes there will always be people you look up to..I follow so many photographers that I admire. But you will never be them. So there comes a point when instead of scouring the internet for inspiration and look to other people..you start to think about what you personally would want and use your own inspiration. You realize that you have so many ideas that maybe have never been done that exact way before.

So here is what I came up with. Packaging that is “me” and fits my brand. I’m proud of it because I’m pretty sure no one else has anything exactly like it and it just fits perfectly. After redoing my packaging I realized that I also I wanted to create a new header (at the very top of the page) and a new logo (coming soon!). So I decided to start just making my own and design things the way I would want to! I love all things beautiful and girly. I love romantic pictures and I want my whole brand to reflect my style.

And no…unfortunately I will not be giving out my grandmas pearls and a bouquet of peonies with every session. Those are just for the the pictures. 🙂
